Summer is really over — Concord’s 2022 downtown concert series ends

CONCORD, CA (Sept. 30, 2022) — From mild June afternoons to scorching hot August evenings, Thursdays in Concord have meant music in Todos Santos Plaza.

With the exception of one concert canceled by temperatures over 110 degrees, crowds have flocked to downtown Concord for the free “Music and Market” concert series. Combined with the Farmers Market, the event has been a smashing success, judging by steady attendance.

The event included street food like pork buns, BBQ ribs and savory chicken skewers. The Makers Boulevard shared the plaza for some of the concerts, bringing quality vendors who specialize in handcrafted products ranging from candles, macrame and woodwork, to jewelry, clothing and more. Shoppers found one-of-a-kind creations from some of the Bay Area’s most talented and innovative artisans and businesses.

.

Over the summer we got to hear blues, jazz, rock and even the delightful Diablo Symphony. This event provided a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy good music, good food and good friends.

The final concert of the 2022 series was held last night to a typically large crowd of all ages. The originally scheduled band, House of Floyd, had to cancel on short notice due to a personal emergency. However, lead singer Brooks Lundy came by to do an opening set of acoustic numbers.

Purple Haze then performed for the rest of the evening, closing out the night with some amazing Jimi Hendrix–inspired guitar magic.

Thanks, Concord, for a terrific summer of music. Can’t wait for next summer!
