CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Sept. 6, 2022) — Fire fighters battling the Barry Fire off of Highway 4 have stopped its forward progress Tuesday afternoon.

The fire named for nearby Barry Hill Road, burned about 50 acres. It flared up this morning in the same area as yesterday’s 125 acre Franklin fire.

The heat wave which started over Labor Day weekend, has extended further into the week than initially forecast. Temperatures rising more than 110 degrees have made already dry terrain extremely dangerous.

In an effort to reduce fire risks and health dangers, some open spaces and parks have been closed to the public. At this point, temperatures should cool down starting Saturday.
