Clayton candidate disavows connection to negative flyer
CLAYTON, CA (Oct. 19, 2022) — As previously reported, two candidates for City Council have responded to remarks in a flyer that was distributed in Clayton.
Comments from Bridget Billeter and Ed Miller were posted earlier.
In response, another council candidate, Kim Trupiano, issued the following statement:
“Last night I received a call from Tamara Steiner of The Pioneer, about a flyer that had been distributed to some homes in Clayton and she was asking me for a comment. I did not know about the flyer and so she sent me a copy. While I do support the freedom of expression, I absolutely do not condone or approve of these tactics and this was in no way supported by me or my campaign. I have worked really hard to keep my campaign positive and above board and to keep my focus on the issues that are important to the citizens of this community.
As I have said many times in the past: the best way to bring people together is to have an open and honest exchange of ideas and throughout the campaign I have made, and will continue to make, myself available to speak to our residents, whether in person, by phone or by email about these issues and their concerns. My focus is on being the voice of the community and determining the best way to move this city forward and I encourage everyone to do their research on each of the candidates, speak to them personally and then determine who they believe best represents their interests. I’m hoping we can move beyond this and keep talking about our qualifications and our vision for Clayton and I wish all of the candidates the best in November.”
