CONTRA COSTA COUNTY—With coronavirus stats falling and Contra Costa County moving into the “Red Tier,” local schools are considering their reopening options.

“Making progress on the COVID-19 metrics is a positive development,” said Lynn Mackey, the county’s superintendent of schools.

Playtime: In another optimistic sign, playgrounds in Concord have reopened with new safety procedures. The city is asking all playground visitors to “stay safe and play safe.” Read the full story.

Be an informed voter: The Monument Democratic Club will host an online forum on Measure V at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5. The measure would increase Concord’s half-cent sales tax to one cent.
