Two critically injured in Walnut Creek as car collides with Contra Costa Fire truck

WALNUT CREEK, CA (Apr. 14, 2024) — Contra Costa Fire Protection District reported that four Contra Costa Fire firefighters were cleared with no injuries and are back to work at Station 1 after a car crashed into the back of a ladder truck  around 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Fire fighters had parked the ladder truck on the highway near the Olympic Boulevard exit. The truck served to provide cover for firefighters working on a separate car accident.

Two occupants of the vehicle involved in the collision were taken to an area hospital with major injuries.

Four fire fighter were inside the truck at the time and were cleared after evaluations at the hospital. Damage to the ladder truck is still being assessed.
