Travis Credit Union Recognized for its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts

VACAVILLE, CA – Travis Credit Union (TCU) was recently recognized for its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts with an award from the Council for Inclusion in Financial Services (CIFS). The award is given to cross-specialty influencers, businesses, and organizations that have spearheaded initiatives to change the face of their industry by fostering diversity, facilitating an inclusive culture, and/or advocating for underrepresented groups.

TCU received the Catalyst Award, an honor granted to individuals and organizations for accelerating positive impact in DEI through philanthropic efforts and initiatives that support underrepresented groups. TCU Community Relations Director Damian Alarcon received the award on behalf of the credit union.

“The honorees have all impacted both the Financial Services Industry and the community at large by sharing their passions and talents to stress the importance of togetherness,” said Keith Murray, President of the Council for Inclusion in Financial Services. “We applaud their work and are excited to honor these influencers.”

TCU has a long legacy of supporting local communities by forming alliances with organizations that enable the credit union to provide financial education to diverse and economically vulnerable populations. In 2021, more than 19,560 adults and youth received financial education through TCU, including more than 500 Spanish speakers that participated in TCU’s seminars. Also during this time, TCU supported 450 foster and homeless youth by providing them with free college workshops and resources.

“Travis Credit Union embraces principles like diversity, inclusiveness, respect, and support for those who need it the most on a daily basis,” said Alarcon. “We all work hard to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and uplifting environment for our members and communities.

“All of our outreach and educational initiatives demonstrate our dedication to serve some of the most diverse communities in the country. While supporting, valuing and embracing our own individuality, we also support, respect, and cherish the diversity of our members.”

Additionally, Travis Credit Union is a finalist at the Inaugural Credit Union Times LUMINARIES Awards in the category of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The award ceremony will take place on November 9th, 2022 in Washington D.C. This recognition is given to individuals and organizations for dynamic and inclusive ways they are driving the credit union industry forward.tr
