So This Happened…Week of Oct. 28 through Nov. 3, 2024
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Nov. 3, 2024) — With Tuesday’s election in their sights, readers wrote to the Pioneer about two races – Edi Birsan for Concord City Council (Read Letter 1 and Letter 2) and Tim Grayson for state Senate.
Meanwhile, Gail Murray delves into why seven states have become so critical to our presidential election. “Many people think that when they vote for Harris or Trump, they are voting for the president. Not so. They are voting for a slate of electors nominated by their political parties,” she notes.
A peek into Clayton’s history: In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Clayton Historical Society, former president Dick Ellis will discuss why the organization is an integral part of the small town. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in Hoyer Hall.
Ready for rent review: As part of the Residential Tenant Protection Program, the city of Concord is accepting rent adjustment petitions. A hearing officer will review the requests at a rent adjustment hearing.
