Singers Wanted! Perform with the championship a cappella Diablo Vista Chorus
WALNUT CREEK, CA (Apr. 27, 2024) — Diablo Vista Chorus (DVC), the award-winning Walnut Creek chapter of Sweet Adelines International (SAI), will host a four-week guest program offering singers the opportunity to learn a song in the a cappella barbershop style. Details are as follows:
Diablo Vista Guest Program
- Tuesdays May 7, 14, 21, and 28
- 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (choice to stay until 9:30 p.m.)
- Grace Presbyterian Church
- 2100 Tice Valley Blvd, Walnut Creek
- $10 Registration/Supply Fee. Space is limited
“We recently attended our regional competition weekend in Reno, Nevada, and once again returned home as first place champions,” says Nancy Blom, Membership Coordinator. “We are starting to learn new music for performing in the Sweet Adelines International competition in Columbus, Ohio in 2025, so this is a perfect time to join our chorus. Singers who love to perform, enjoy the thrill of competition and want to work to be the best should sign-up for our Guest Program. Find out why we all love being part of DVC.”
Over the four nights in May, guests will join the chorus for vocal warm-ups, work with the chorus on a new song and learn a few barbershop “tags”, which in barbershop style are the final few bars of a song with a dramatic finish and ringing chords.
“We are so fortunate to have as our director, Caitlin Castelino, who is an International Quartet Champion “Queen of Harmony” and Master Director,” adds Blom. “Under her leadership, our chorus has soared to the championship level.”

About Diablo Vista Chorus
DVC, under the direction of Caitlin Castelino, is a chapter of the Sweet Adelines International Pacific Shores (Region 12) which consists of choruses and quartets throughout Northern California, Northern Nevada, Southern Oregon and Hawaii. Sweet Adelines International is an organization dedicated to elevating women singers worldwide through education, performance, and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music with more than 25,000 members worldwide.
In 2019, DVC competed for the first time at the SAI International Competition in New Orleans for the Harmony Classic International competition. DVC came away with a first-place gold medal and trophy and the highest score of all divisions. In May 2022, the chorus won the Pacific Shores Region 12 competition. This earned the opportunity to compete in SAIs International Competition in Louisville, KY., finishing in eighth place world-wide. DVC again won the April 2024 Region 12 competition and will return to SAI International Competition in fall of 2025 in Columbus, OH.
When not competing, DVC performs throughout the year, singing for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, community events and fundraisers. The group has also sung the National Anthem at the Oakland A’s games.
Diablo Vista Chorus is committed to musical excellence and education. They enthusiastically share the joy of singing four-part, a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. Members pride themselves in community involvement. They also strive for innovative entertainment and diversity in their membership. DVC’s rehearsals are open to the public and to potential new members. They hold rehearsals every Tuesday at 6:30 pm at 2100 Tice Valley Road, Walnut Creek. The chorus constantly accepts new members.
