Sewer Replacement Project Begins in Gregory Gardens Neighborhood

Sewer Replacement Project Begins in Gregory Gardens Neighborhood
Pleasant Hill sewer renovation project, Phase 2.

PLEASANT HILL, CA (Sept. 5, 2023) — The Contra Costa Central Sanitary District (CentralSan) has begun a major sewer replacement project affecting the Gregory Gardens neighborhood. The development’s original sewers are being replaced, as they are nearing the end of their useful life.

CentralSan expects the work to continue through April 2024.

This renovation will benefit from two earlier projects. These deeper large-diameter interceptor sewers installed previously, allow replacement with an increased slope for improved functionality.Workers will complete the renovation using traditional open-cut construction. Meanwhile, they will renovate easements using a horizontal directional drilling method (HDD). Using HDD in easements will reduce construction impacts to properties during the project. The Contractor will provide 7-Day and 2-Day advanced notices for each site as they progress through the project.

The work hours for the project are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and easement work will conclude at 4:30 p.m. During construction hours, Central San contractors will work to minimize traffic delays and provide access to driveways. Outside of work hours, all excavations will be filled or plated, allowing full access to residents.
