CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Sept. 5, 2023) — Over a quarter of Contra Costa residents are immigrants who come from all over the world. Join a Community Conversation webinar on Thursday, September 21 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. titled “What is the Reality of Immigration?”

The webinar will offer information about national, state and local immigration laws and about a large, new immigration court that is coming to the heart of Contra Costa County. Hear distinguished experts focus on demystifying myths that contribute to misunderstanding and false information about immigrants and on the challenges immigrants face with courage and resilience.

Panelists include

  • Moderator and panelist Ali Saidi, Contra Costa County Public Defender and founder of Stand Together Contra Costa;
  • Reverend Deborah Lee, Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity;
  • Sandy Valenciano, Urban Peace Movement; and
  • Yoel Haile, American Civil Liberties Union Director of Northern California Criminal Program.
