CONCORD, CA – The launch of the Contra Costa County Beer Trail has been a rousing success, thanks to the many craft beer lovers who took time to explore the 40+ local breweries, tap houses and beer bar restaurants.
Beer fans signed up for the mobile-exclusive Beer Trail Passport at VisitConcordCA.com, then checked in at participating locations to score points for fun prizes.
Congratulations to The Hop Grenade in Concord, voted by fans as the Beer Trail Favorite after receiving the most check-ins during the launch. Visit Concord presented the taproom’s Justin Crossley and Kevin Callahan with a beer-themed trophy at The Hop Grenade’s 7th Anniversary “We Couldn’t Have Done it Without You” Party on July 24.
Another big winner was Kevin King, also of Concord. Kevin has been dubbed the Beer Trail’s Biggest Craft Brew fan after checking in at the most locations on the trail. He received a special medallion to honor the occasion.
Exploring local breweries
Kevin said, “The CCC Beer Trail motivated me to explore local breweries and other craft beer spots that I might not have traveled to. I dedicated different weekend days to different areas so I could hit almost every spot. I am very thankful for my understanding wife as I pursue my beer hobby!”
He added: “I enjoy trying new beers and am constantly searching for the next great beer. We have great brewers in our county, from Imperiale Beer Project and Four Legs in Brentwood, to Armistice in Richmond, Canyon in Moraga and Epidemic Ales in Concord. When you couple that with bottle shops like The Hop Grenade, Concord Tap House and Brentwood Craft Beer and Cider, the possibilities are endless. I have met several good friends thanks to the places on the trail and have always believed that people need these local hangouts to develop a true community identity.”
As the Contra Costa Beer Trail officially becomes a year-round attraction, Visit Concord CEO and President, Elaine Schroth invites all travelers to explore the Beer Trail as well as stay, dine and enjoy the many local flavors Concord has to offer. “The best place to start your adventure is at our Concord Visitor Center,” she offers. “At the center you can take in displays, gather information for the entire Mt. Diablo Region and even purchase tickets to local spots, sometimes at a discount!”
