CONCORD, CA (Mar. 19, 2023) — Saturday night, CPD officers responded to a call of a vehicle that crashed into a house on Meadow Lane.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a gaping hole in an exterior wall of the home. The vehicle had traveled through a living area and came to rest in the kitchen.

Although the homeowner was inside the residence at the time, neither the homeowner nor the driver sustained any injuries from the collision. Through the investigation, officers on scene determined that the driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was impaired. Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to the scene to assess the damage, along with City of Concord building inspectors later in the morning, as the damage may have compromised the integrity of the home.

A CPD statement reminds drivers to avoid incidents like this by making the responsible and safe choice. “Please drink responsibly and arrange a ride share or designated driver. This incident had the potential to have had an even worse outcome.
Please. Don’t drink and drive.”

The suspected drunk driver ended up in the kitchen of this Meadow Lane Home in Concord.
