CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (June 2, 2023) — This week, cities all over, including Concord, Clayton and Pleasant Hill kicked off Pride month with flag raising ceremonies.

For the third year, Clayton proudly raised the Rainbow flag over City Hall on Thursday.

City Councilmember Holly Tillman said, “It was an honor to watch our youth raise the Progress Pride Flag in front of Clayton City Hall, and to hear everyone’s stories on why Pride is important to them.”

At the Concord ceremony, Mayor Laura Hoffmeister and other city leaders joined the Rainbow Community Center for the occasion. County Supervisor Ken Carlson also attended.

Dodi Zatigh from the Rainbow Center said that raising the flag is “a small act but one that actually is very impactful.”

Carlson added,  “celebrating our diversity and welcoming and including all is very important to me.”

The City of Pleasant Hill also raised the flag this week. “The flag has been raised as we begin Pride Month. To all the members of the LGBTIA community, their friends and family, Happy Pride Month!”
