CONCORD, CA (Aug. 3, 2021) — On Tuesday, folks in Concord gathered at the library to celebrate National Night Out. The event featured activities for kids, including a bike rodeo organized by Bike Concord.  Ofie’s Kitchen food truck provided tasty food.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign. The event promotes community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

Attendees got the chance to play and say hello to neighbors, as well as officers from Concord Police Department and firefighters from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. Congressman Mark DeSaulnier also stopped by.

Community groups such as Contra Costa’s CORE program and  Moms Demand Action got the chance to connect with community members. Moms Demand Action promotes public safety measures to protect people from gun violence. The Coordinated Outreach Referral, Engagement or (C.O.R.E.) program helps the homeless with basic needs and to secure permanent housing.
