CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Oct. 2, 2023) — Through a joint operation, Pleasant Hill police arrested 13 people for retail theft in the Crossroads Shopping Center. Charges include petty theft, narcotics and active warrants.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill Mayor Tim Flaherty outlined a tree replacement plan along with bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements in his Pioneer column. And, Stay Pleasant Hill announced it is rebranding as Visit Pleasant Hill. “Visitors bring a valuable economic element into Pleasant Hill. It helps local businesses when visitors eat, shop and stay in Pleasant Hill,” noted CEO Patricia Snowden.
Pioneering ranch family: The history of Concord’s Ginochio family started with the extensive ranch that Antonio rented. “As time went by, all three brothers had good size farms – with about 2,500 animals grazing over 12,000 acres of land,” Carol Longshore wrote in her Yesteryear column.
A boost for Mitchell Canyon: Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan presented $1 million in state money for the new Mitchell Canyon Education Center. “I’m thrilled to be presenting this funding, which will mark a pivotal step toward enhancing educational opportunities, facilitating better access and enriching the visitor experience at Mount Diablo,” she said.
