WALNUT CREEK, CA (Oct. 1, 2023) — One Clayton resident and three from Concord were among the blind and visually impaired clients of the Lions Center for the Visually Impaired (LCVI) who visited the Bedford Gallery on Sept. 15 to experience “Sight Unseen: International Photography by Blind Artists.”

Touring the gallery for the first time, the four learned about the artists from gallery docent Jane Enders. She professionally described the photos and shared insights about the individual artists, their motivations and methods. The clients asked lots of questions and were curious about how the artists overcame lack of sight in the very visual medium of photography.

“Thank you to the (LCVI) volunteers who helped us,” said LCVI client Sam of Clayton. “I just wish we had more time at the gallery.”

LCVI provides free supportive services for blind and visually impaired seniors in Solano, Contra Costa and Alameda counties. For more information, call 925-432-3013 or visit www.LCVI.org.

Richard Grange is activities and marketing coordinator for LCVI, located at 175 Alvarado Ave., Pittsburg.
