Monument Crisis Center completes building purchase with help from state
CONCORD, CA (July 16, 2021) — Monument Crisis Center (MCC) has announced that they have purchased the building at 1990 Market Street in Concord, where the organization has based operations since 2014. MCC serves Contra Costa County as an essential food pantry and comprehensive family resource center.
Private and family foundations, long-time supporters, and donations from the greater community raised the funds essential for the down payment, making it possible for MCC to secure a commercial loan for the balance.
At the request of California Senator Steve Glazer (D-Contra Costa), the California State Legislature voted to include Monument Crisis Center in the state budget by directing $3.7 million to Monument Crisis Center’s capital expenses. The funding will effectively pay off the remainder of the commercial mortgage, generating an equivalent savings of $15,000. a month for the life of the loan.
“The Monument Crisis Center does vital work in serving residents of Contra Costa County who are in need,” Senator Glazer said. “Having a permanent home ensures that the crisis center’s service as an emergency food pantry and family resource center will be enduring. I look forward to continuing to work with the Monument Crisis Center in its mission to help people who are facing troubled times.”

MCC will celebrate the milestone along with its 18th anniversary with an outdoor event at the Monument Crisis Center, 1990 Market Street, Concord, Sun. Aug. 15, 11 a.m.-1. p.m.
