Clayton troupe drops plans for fall performances

CLAYTON, CA (Sept. 3, 20210 – Due to heightened COVID-19 restrictions, the Clayton Theatre Company (CTC) has canceled its October run of “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940.”

Managing director Roxanne Pardi says it will be the fourth – and final – cancellation of the show.

“This was a difficult decision based on the uptick of COVID-19 and the new Delta variant,” she said. “The health and safety of our valued patrons, artists, crew and staff is of the utmost importance.”

Pardi said the actors had continued their commitment to the show and had started rehearsing on their own. However, she noted: “The CDC, state, county and city COVID mandates which dictate mask wearing (including actors on stage), temperature checks, proof of vaccination, PCR testing, contact tracing, etc., are not conducive to producing a show.”

Although they have canceled the season, Pardi added that CTC remains a viable theater company with ongoing financial commitments. Patrons can make tax-deductible donations at claytontheatrecompany.com.
