CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Dec. 27, 2023) — White Pony Express’ helps eliminate hunger by recovering fresh, healthy food and delivering it to those in need. In the 10 years since their founding, they have impacted hundreds of thousands of lives. However, the need remains great.

WPE’s Food Rescue Program operates seven days a week. They rescue a daily average of 12,000+ pounds of high-quality, surplus food from over 70 local food outlets. Volunteers redistribute the nutritious food within 24 hours to 90+ nonprofit partners. These partners feed the most vulnerable individuals in our county.

Through this work, they not only address food insecurity, but also health outcomes, the reduction of harmful greenhouse gasses, and learning capacity for students at 16 school sites. WPE has been awarded top honors by Candid and Charity Navigator. These organizations evaluate nonprofits based on their financial health, accountability, culture, and transparency.

WPE will be moving to a larger facility in Concord in early 2024 to meet the demand for healthy food in Contra Costa County.  They currently have 46 nonprofit agencies on their waitlist for food. The new location will allow them to operate more efficiently and safely and enable future growth.

Their current fundraising campaign ‘ACCESS FOR ALL’ will match all donations up to $250,000. Please help WPE provide access to free, nutritious food and build community resilience by volunteering or donating today.
