CONCORD, CA (August 2, 2022) — Concord First Partners, LLC, held their third community meeting last week via Zoom. Concord City Council selected the group as master developer for the Concord Naval Weapons Station project.

The proposed development features a half billion dollars worth of infrastructure creation on the site.

This meeting presented an opportunity for attendees to provide input, perspectives and feedback on community and project priorities for the Base Reuse Project at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station.

Video recording from the July 28 meeting is now available.  Some of the comments and questions posed by the community included:

  • Why did the city have to extend the ENA [Exclusive Negotiation Agreement] for you all, moreover since the city council rejected your amendment at the last meeting how will CFP proceed? Should we be worried that CFP will back away from the community benefits commitments?
  • We need items that invest in Concord by making people want to come here. No one wants to come here to see homeless or low-income housing. We need things like theaters, auditoriums, grocery stores, pickleball courts, retails stores, cafes restaurants, libraries and community centers.
  • I belong to Kaiser hospital and if you go to the hospital in Walnut Creek, that’s getting very old and not up to current standards, I would assume. Would you possibly instigate some discussions with Kaiser in putting a brand new hospital on the weapons station?
  • You’re talking about affordable living but is there a concept that includes assisted living more like Rossmoor?

CFP representatives addressed each of these items as well as others during the meeting.
