CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Nov. 27, 2022) — De La Salle travels to Folsom for the Northern California 1-AA championship this Friday, Dec. 2, when the Spartans have a chance to avenge two consecutive defeats to their hosts. At stake is a berth against a Southern California opponent in a CIF State Bowl game Dec. 9.

Clayton Valley Charter will not be taking part in a NorCal Regional playoff game after the Ugly Eagles lost a defensive struggle 13-3 at Pittsburg last Friday evening. Clayton Valley Charter was held without a touchdown for the first time since the last game of the 2016 season when De La Salle blanked them 28-0 in the North Coast Section semi-finals 68 games ago.

De La Salle hasn’t lost at Folsom in their touted intersectional battles but fell 28-27 after leading in last year’s 1-AA playoff 14-0 and again earlier this season 24-20, both times on their Owen Owens Field in Concord. DLS had defeated Folsom earlier last fall 31-10 on the Bulldogs home field. Folsom has won 11 Sac-Joaquin Section titles, including nine since 210 while De La Salle recently won its 30th successive NCS crown over Pittsburg.

The Pirates rebounded in a  game dominated by both defenses. Clayton Valley started the game with a successful onside kick that led to a field goal but the Ugly Eagles weren’t able to score again. It was the second straight year Pitt beat CVCHS in the NCS Division 1 championship game.

NCS Playoffs – Nov. 25
