The Firebird — A magical fairytale flies into the Lesher Center next week

WALNUT CREEK, CA (May 10, 2024) — Diablo Ballet closes its 30th, 2023 – 24 Season with the world premiere of the magical fairytale The Firebird next week.

This brand-new one act ballet by award-winning choreographer Brian Enos, is set to the sweeping score by Igor Stravinsky. A handsome Prince and his beautiful Princess fall in love through the majestic Firebird who saves them. Read the full synopsis of The Firebird here.

The program also features 4 in the Morning by world renowned dance maker Val Caniparoli which is reminiscent of the Great Gatsby-esque Golden Era. The inspiration for it comes from Edith Sitwell’s poem called “4 in the Morning,” plus the stunning pas de deux from Light Rain by Gerald Arpino.

The Firebird performs on May 17 at 7:30 pm and on May 18 at 2 pm & 7:30 pm. The performance runs 1 hour and 30 mins with one intermission.

Special Performance Event

A special meet and greet with the costumed dancers will immediately follow each performance. This includes a sweet treat for our younger guests.

Enjoy a speciality drink “The Firebird” before the performance and during intermission. This delicious apple beverage comes either with or without alcohol. (You can purchase drinks at the lobby bars.)
