So this happened...Week of Aug. 10-16First came the 100+ temperatures. Already accustomed to hanging out in our homes (which are also now our offices and our schoolrooms), we thought: We can manage.

Then PG&E instituted rolling blackouts. Growing a little desperate in the dark, we exclaimed: Really? What’s next?

Early Sunday morning, we got our answer. And it came with a crashing boom as lightning strikes led to several wildfires near Clayton.

Keeping it cool: The city of Concord will keep the Senior Center open 1-6 p.m. through Tuesday, Aug. 18, for those who need a break from the heat After completing a brief health screening, guests must follow social distancing and masks requirements. Read the full story.
