So This Happened... Week of April 26 to May 2CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — With food insecurity still a top concern for many local families, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano will host the Nourish Gala Drive-in to Fight Hunger on Thursday, May 13.

Instead of in a ballroom, the fundraiser will take place at Concord’s West Wind Solano Drive-in.

“We are so excited to gather with many of our supporters after so long,” said Kim Castaneda, vice president of Development and Communications. “The drive-in offers the perfect chance for people to enjoy a fun and safe night out.” Read the full story.

A little help with the rent: Concord businesses have until May 14 to file a joint application with landlords for the city’s Commercial Rent Relief Program. Using Measure V funds, the city will approve $10,000 grants to help with rent for those impacted by the pandemic.

Big boost in vaccines: A new drop-in vaccination clinic opened last week at 1034 Oak Grove Road in Concord, as Contra Costa County logs more than 1 million doses ahead of schedule. “This is absolutely a testament to our community’s ability to come together during a crisis to protect their loved ones and reduce the spread of a dangerous virus,” said Diane Burgis, chair of the Board of Supervisors.

Eye on the Delta: Residents have until Monday, May 3, to sign up for Thursday’s virtual workshop on the Delta Conveyance Project Community Benefits Program. The interactive event will include small breakout discussions.
