Unique fundraiser to be held at West Wind Solano Drive-in, May 13, 2021.

CONCORD, CA (May 2, 2021) – The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is gearing up to host its largest annual fundraiser in a very unique way. Instead of a typical ballroom, this year’s in-person event is cruising to the drive in.

The Nourish Gala Drive-in to Fight Hunger will take place on Thursday, May 13, in Concord at the West Wind Solano Drive-in. Guests will experience the fun and impact of the popular annual event – all from the comfort and safety of their car. It’s the perfect chance to get out of the house and back into the community.

“We are so excited to gather with many of our supporters after so long. This event is crucial to our ongoing fight against food insecurity in Contra Costa and Solano counties, and the drive-in offers the perfect chance for people to enjoy a fun and safe night out,” said Kim Castaneda, Food Bank vice president of Development and Communications.

A bigger safety net

Proceeds from the event will be used to fill a truck with nutritious food for distribution into the community and allow the Food Bank to expand its programs and ultimately provide a bigger safety net for those facing hunger. Since the pandemic began, the Food Bank has been serving an average of 270,000 people each month.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and include a jam-packed evening featuring a hot three-course meal, live auction, keepsake blanket, live program projected on the big screens and a full-length showing of Back to the Future. The event will be hosted by KPIX 5 reporter Betty Yu.

Tickets are $120/person for general admission or $150/person for the upgraded VIP experience and are available online for purchase at foodbankccs.org/nourishgala. The upgraded VIP experience includes priority entry, reserved parking and professional photography services.
