So This Happened...News summary for week of Dec. 7-13CONTRA COSTA COUNTY—As local governments continue to grapple with the pandemic, both the Concord and Clayton City Councils broke with tradition when selecting a new mayor.

The Concord council accepted Vice Mayor Dominic Aliano’s suggestion that Mayor Tim McGallian serve a second term. “I think it is important for the city of Concord to maintain its consistency and its leadership,” Aliano said. (Read more)

During a more contentious meeting in Clayton, a divided council passed over Vice Mayor Jeffrey Wan and voted 3-2 to install Councilman CW Wolfe as mayor for 2021. (Read more)

“I have been listening to your concerns and desires over the past few years and hope that we can come together, rather than oppose each other, in a civil, positive and constructive way to better our city,” Wolfe wrote in his inaugural column in the Pioneer. (Read more)
