CONCORD, Calif. (May 23, 2023) – The City of Concord and the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce just relaunched the popular Shop Concord program. The move will support the city’s small businesses by encouraging residents to shop locally over Memorial Day weekend and into the summer. Shop Concord helps increase sales for local businesses while also benefiting consumers and providing a boost to the local economy.

A $10,000 contribution from the City of Concord helped relaunch the program to supply a bonus gift card with every purchase. While supplies last, receive a free $50 Shop Concord bonus card with every original $100 gift card purchase. Get a free $25 Shop Concord card with every $50 gift card purchase, or a free $10 Shop Concord card with every $20 gift card purchase. Use the gift cards for purchases at any participating business. The bonus gift cards with purchase are available until the allotted $10,000 is distributed.

“It’s great we are able to relaunch the Shop Concord program,” said Mayor Laura Hoffmeister. “Our previous holiday relaunches have helped build momentum for the program and helps us achieve our objective of supporting the local economy.”

The initial Shop Concord program launched in November 2020. Participants purchased 978 e-gift cards for a total of $31,020 in value. Local businesses saw the momentum and reaped the benefits. Now, with six programs launched in the past three years, the total amount of gift cards distributed comes to more than $188,000.

Overwhelming success

“The Shop Concord program has been an overwhelming success since it was originally launched [following] significant setbacks due to the pandemic,” said Melissa Rea, President/CEO of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce. “This Memorial Day weekend, the Chamber is excited to … build on the program’s success from previous years. This program will inspire a new wave of support for our local business community.”

Purchase cards on the Shop Concord Yiftee page, which includes a list of participating merchants. Redeem the cards at any participating Concord business. The digital cards allow customers to split the original and bonus portions for themselves or gift to others.

“Take advantage of the Shop Concord Program,” said Sifu Steffani Tomizaki. “It’s a great way to support local businesses.  We have had folks use it for classes, private lessons and merchandise.” Tomizaki co-Owns Tomizaki’s Champions Kung Fu.

Concord local business owners can sign up anytime for free to participate in the program. Find instructions for how to become a participating merchant online at www.concordfirst.com/shop-concord.
