Writer wins Catholic Press awardPioneer correspondent David Scholz holds the Sept. 16, 2019, Catholic Voice. The publication featured his story “Mass addresses ‘deep hurt’ from losing a child.” Scholz won second place for the Catholic Press’ Best Reporting on Social Justice Issues – life and dignity of the human person. The virtual Catholic Media Conference announced the award July 2. El Heraldo Catolico also translated and published Scholz’ article. Look for his story on how local churches are adapting to the pandemic in the next issue of the Pioneer, due out Aug. 21.
