CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Jan. 30, 2024) — As the Pittsburg Theatre Company (PTC) continues rehearsals for its first show of 2024, the troupe is also kicking off its “Help Keep the Lights On” fundraiser.

“Given our ongoing monthly expenses, we have an urgent need to raise money to stay afloat,” said executive director Gwendolyn Sampson Brown. “Currently, we are solvent through March 2024, pending no additional show expenses. Beyond that date, our survival is in peril.”

Brown said PTC only takes home about 30% of the proceeds from shows, which almost never covers the cost of production.

Donors can make a monthly pledge via Patreon at www.patreon.com/ptcca. The minimum donation is $5 per month. The goal is $1,100 per month, but the current amount is only $171.

Or, donate directly to PTC and receive a special thank you gift. Visit their donation site here; Venmo @PTC-California (use 7529 if asked for phone number); mail a check to PTC at PO Box 452, Pittsburg, CA 94565; or call 925-439-7529.

Shows for 2024 include “A Streetcar Named Desire,” Feb. 23-March 3; “Willy Wonka,” April 27-May 5; and “The Sunshine Boys,” June 14-23.

“We hope to see you at the California Theatre for these dynamic shows,” Brown said. “And don’t worry, there is more planned for 2024. This includes our summer youth program, continued Black Box presentations at Steeltown and a special family holiday show.”
