Pioneer High school football scores update, Sept. 4, 2022CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Sept. 5, 2022) — Concord and Northgate high schools each won their second successive non-league football games on Friday while perennial Concord powers De La Salle and Clayton Valley Charter both suffered a second successive home defeat.

The Spartans fell on a last-second field goal to Serra of San Mateo at Owen Owens Field 24-21 after blowing a 21-7 lead in the fourth quarter. It was a battle of Northern California’s top two ranked teams on national television and the first time the two Catholic schools played one another in six years. DLS lost on its home turf last December in the Northern California Regional Bowl Game also on a last-minute score to Folsom.

Across town in Concord on Friday night, CVCHS Ugly Eagles let slip a nine-point lead in the final quarter falling 31-27 to Del Oro-Loomis and dropping to 0-2 this year despite transfer quarterback Christian Aguilar throwing for 374 and three touchdowns.
