The Pioneer’s high school football scores update, Oct. 2, 2022
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Oct. 2, 2022) — The high school football calendar has turned over to October so local teams are looking towards a five-week sprint filled with league games that will determine which schools will extend their seasons into the North Coast Section playoffs.
In their final non-league games, Mt. Diablo and Clayton Valley each notched their second victories of the season. This brings their records to 2-3. Meanwhile, College Park (2-3) and Ygnacio Valley (0-5) both dropped their last game before moving in their Diablo Athletic League schedule.
Bye weeks
Undefeated Northgate and Concord highs had byes before beginning their DAL schedules Friday.
Northgate was moved to the DAL Football division after winning the Valley title last fall. The Broncos host Miramonte of Orinda (4-1) in their first DAL game.
De La Salle (3-2) also didn’t play this week. The Spartans will travel to Stockton Friday evening for a game against unbeaten 6-0 St. Mary’s. It’s the only non-league game left for local schools. Technically, all DLS games are non-league as they end up the regular season with four games against East Bay Athletic League schools but the Spartans get an automatic berth into NCS and thus isn’t factored in the league standings.
Concord faces what might be the Minutemen’s toughest Valley foe in the league opener when College Park (2-3) comes to visit Concord this Friday evening.
