CONCORD, CA (Aug. 2, 2023) — Different from last year’s big community gathering at the library, Concord opted for numerous smaller events all over town for this year’s National Night Out.

Neighbors came together around open garages and closed off cul-de-sacs for the community building tradition.

First responders from the Concord Police Dept., Contra Costa County Fire Dept. joined residents for the meet and greet. Some included chances to sit in fire trucks, meet police K-9 officers or see drone surveillance demonstrations.

Most included games for kids and plenty of food to share. The annual event gives residents a chance to get to know local police officers and fire fighters, as well as each other.

Non-profit organizations such as the Red Cross joined in to get helpful information to folks. And local politicians made the rounds to say hello to constituents. The cool, breezy evening made for a great chance to relax and celebrate the community.
