Join forum on Concord Sales Tax Measure V online, Monday Oct. 5

CONCORD, CA—The Monument Democratic Club will host a forum on Measure V, which is on the November 2020 ballot. The forum will take place online Monday, October 5, at 6 p.m.

Measure V is the Concord sales tax measure that will raise the Concord City tax from ½ cent to one cent for goods and services that have a sales tax.  One-half cent on a $100 purchase is 50 cents. The revenue from this tax is expected to bring about $13 million per year more money into the City of Concord general fund. The Measure will be passed if it gets 50% of all votes, plus one.

All the revenue from this tax will stay in the City of Concord.

Guy Bjerkee, the Director of the Economic Development Department, will give a live presentation on Measure V and how revenue from it could affect the City of Concord budget. His presentation will take about 20 minutes followed by questions and answers.
