CONTRA COSTA COUNTY—Voters who haven’t already voted early, either by mail or a drop box have until 8 p.m. tonight to make their voice heard. Polling places opened this morning, or in places with early, in-person voting, a few days ago.

More than a million county residents have the chance to cast a ballot in this election and many are expecting a record high turnout this year. In the 2018 non-presidential election, only 63% of registered voters cast a ballot. During the 2016 election, just under 80% of Contra Costa’s registered voters took part.

But it’s not too late. In California, you can register to vote on the day of the election by filling out  a form at your polling place before you vote.

If you aren’t sure about a measure or a candidate, you can google several sites with details both pro and con. For example the non-partisan League of Women Voters have information on candidates and measures. Go to votersedge.org. and enter your address to bring up your ballot. Click on any of the candidates or measures for more information.

For the Concord and Clayton city council races, the candidates’ positions on the major issues are posted on The Pioneer website.

Polling places remain open until 8 p.m. today. Californians can find their polling place here. Find early voting locations here.
