CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Sept. 24, 2023) — De La Salle has dug its way out of a 0-2 start to the season with its third successive victory, this time an old-fashioned Spartan run-dominated 14-7 win over Folsom in a battle between Northern California’s second and third ranked teams in the Sierra Foothills.

Continuing through its daunting fall schedule, the Concord school has rung up three straight wins to maintain its top ranking in North Coast Section. Their next two games are in Owen Owens Field this Friday against McClymonds of Oakland and, following a bye week, undefeated and high-scoring San Ramon Valley comes to Concord Oct. 13 featuring the top two teams in NCS rankings.

Mt. Diablo (4-1) has a bye this week after surviving a 36-33 shootout at Castlemont in Oakland.

Ygnacio Valley lost its 29th straight game 20-8 to Galileo in San Francisco but the Wolves were so close to getting their first win since late in their 2019 playoff season but were only able to score once in five trips inside the Lions 10-yard line.

Northgate is winless this year but a missed extra point was all that separated the Broncos from unbeaten Miramonte in Orinda 28-27 in the Diablo Athletic League opener for both teams.

College Park will host Miramonte this Friday licking its wounds from a 56-0 loss to Acalanes in the team’s DAL opener.

Concord edged Mt. Eden of Hayward 36-34 in another high-scoring affair.
