CONCORD, CA (Aug. 29, 2023) — The 15th season of American Ninja Warrior saw a slew of Concord and Bay Area athletes competing. The NBC obstacle course contest offers a million dollar prize for the winner.

Concord residents Alan Connealy and Clayton Valley Charter High senior Noah Jones found themselves among the locals eliminated in the earlier rounds.

Only one Concord resident made it into the National Stage 1 Finals this year. Sean Bryan, one of the founders of Traverse Fitness in Richmond, has been competing since season 8. The show veteran ranks highly among other long-time competitors in a show that has seen much younger athletes performing well in recent seasons.

The competition requires speed, strength, agility and endurance to overcome a series of physical challenges. The finals competition happens in 3 stages, which eliminate athletes until 1 remains. Bryan took his shot at the Stage 1 Finals course on Monday’s episode.

Bryan started out strong on the first few obstacles. He easily conquered the “Jumping Spider,” an obstacle that took him out in season 11 when he dislocated his shoulder during the attempt.

Season 15 features a tough new obstacle called “The Gambler,” which has knocked many talented ninjas out of the competition this year.

Unfortunately, Bryan, missed his grip at one point and fell. This ended his chance of making it to Stage 2.

Fans hope to see Bryan and the other local ninjas back in competition next year.

American Ninja Warrior airs on Monday Nights on NBC or you can stream it on the Peacock app.
