CONCORD, CA (Nov. 18, 2022) — The Concord Historical Society will host the grand opening of the Concord History Museum this weekend. The event kicks off with “Concord History 101” an introduction to Concord’s history.

Visitors will get a chance to explore local history of the Native Americans and ‘Rancho Days.’ Other subjects presented include Agriculture and Economy, Communications and Transportation, as well as Education and Home Life.

The grand opening takes place Sat. and Sun., November 19 & 20, 2022, from 1 to 4 PM. Go to the Concord Museum and Event Center 2nd Floor at 1928 Clayton Road in Concord. You can find parking off Marina Ct.

Special attraction

The Historical Model Railroad Layout Group of the San Ramon Valley Branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad will present a special attraction. You will get to see an N-scale model railroad depiction of SP’s former branch line (circa 1914 to 1924). The line connected Concord, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville and San Ramon to destinations beyond. Model railroaders will be on hand to share Branch Line’s history. Display dates of the model railroad include: Nov. 19, 20; Dec. 4, 18; and Jan. 15, 2023.

Also on the main floor Nov. 19 & 20 you will find the Historical Society’s HOLIDAY CRAFT MARKET. It opens at 10 AM. Don’t miss these great events.
