Concord, Calif. (August 11, 2023) – The Concord City Council has announced a recruitment for the City of Concord’s representative on the Contra Costa Transportation Authority – Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) to fill one (1) opening for a four-year term ending 2025; and setting a deadline of Friday, September 8, 2023, at 5 p.m. as the deadline for receipt of applications by the City Clerk.

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) maintains the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) to provide citizen perspective, participation, and involvement in the CCTA’s $3 billion voter-approved Transportation Expenditure Plan and Growth Management Program.

The CAC comprises 23 members: 20 are appointed by each of the 20 local jurisdictions within Contra Costa County (the cities, towns, and the County), and three “at-large” members appointed by CCTA who shall reflect community and business organizations and interests within Contra Costa County (for example, a Contra Costa resident interested in bicycling issues, or a resident with environmental concerns). Members shall not serve in a representative capacity with respect to their appointing authorities (in this case, CCTA) or any specific organization.

Meetings are scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. and are held at the CCTA office located at 2999 Oak Road, Suite 110, Walnut Creek, CA (directly across the street from the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART Station). CAC members are appointed to serve for a four-year term without compensation. Members will, however, receive reimbursement for travel expenses to and from the CAC meetings if they have completed Ethics training and Sexual Harassment Prevention training and have a current certification on file with CCTA staff. CCTA staff will provide the resources to complete these trainings.
