Concord Police use ‘high-risk felony stop’ to catch armed robbery suspect
CONCORD, CA (Aug. 25, 2023) — On Thursday, a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was robbed at gun point while delivering mail in Concord.
Through witness statements, video surveillance, and other investigative leads, Concord Police Patrol Officers and Detectives identified the suspect vehicle and involved persons.
Around 10 PM last night, patrol officers located the suspect vehicle driving in Concord. They initiated a high-risk felony stop on Blackfield Drive with the assistance of STARR 3, Air Support Unit – Contra Costa County, Office of the Sheriff.
Residents in the area saw a large police presence on the ground as well as a helicopter overhead shining a searchlight down. Officers on the scene detained several subjects and took them into custody for various crimes.
The Detectives also identified a related suspect house in the City of Vallejo and the Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT Team served a search warrant early Friday morning. This resulted in the recovery of evidence related to the armed robbery in Concord.
Concord PD sent out thanks to the residents in the community who called in suspicious activity in their neighborhood. The callers also provided valuable information for the investigation.
