CONCORD, CA (Aug. 25, 2023) — CVCHS Robotics Club Juniors Eric Catalano, Will Garner, Santi Martinez, Alex Mihaylov, and Asher Wan competed in their first VEX VRC Competition. The team placed #14 out of 29 teams at the August 19 event in Dublin, CA.

Using basic parts from the Engineering classroom supplies, they put together a simple robot in less than two weeks. The robot won four of six matches.

The Robotics Club had not competed in any competitions since 2017. They hope to grow and offer more opportunities such as adding more teams, hosting Summer Camps for Middle schools, and providing scholarships for graduating Seniors.

Help the team compete this year

The Robotics team’s enthusiasm for robotics is infectious. After their first competition, the students gotten motivated to improve their engineering and troubleshooting skills to solve problems and become an even more competitive team. However, they will need additional robot parts in order to have a competition-level robot.

They are actively seeking donations and sponsorships to pay for robot parts, registration fees, travel costs, and marketing supplies such as t-shirts. If interested in helping the team out, visit:
