Concord Police arrest suspect in murder of Meadow lane bicyclist

CONCORD, CA (April 17, 2022) — A shooting in Concord left a bicyclist dead at the intersection of Meadow Lane and Johnson Drive over the weekend.

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at approximately 09:53 AM, the Concord Police Department received multiple calls that a male had been shot. Officers arrived on scene and located a Hispanic male adult with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the man, who had been riding his bike when shot, to a nearby hospital. The victim did not survive.

Concord Police Detectives responded and took over the investigation completely closing the intersection for several hours. After following up on several investigative leads, Detectives identified a juvenile suspect. They located the suspect, who had evidence of the crime in his possession and made the arrest.

A KTVU Fox 2 report identified the victim as 30 year old Salvador Victor Ocha Castro. Castro leaves behind a nine-year-old daughter.
