CONCORD, CA (Dec. 12, 2022) — Warm coats and big smiles marked the Knights of Columbus’ annual Christmas Party this year. The event benefited the kindergarten and first grade classes of Cambridge Elementary School in Concord on Dec. 10.

After selecting one of 154 winter coats with help from one of the dozen Council 6038 members and their spouses of St. Bonaventure Church, each child had the chance to share their hopes and dreams with the big man himself, Santa Claus. Each child also received a gift from Marine’s Toys for Tot campaign before sitting down for a hot dog lunch.

Mike McKay, co-chair for 22 years of the lunch portion of the holiday event, said “This is the highlight of my Christmas.’’  Cambridge Elementary Vice Principal Joanne Wathen acknowledged this incredible act of generosity literally fell into their laps when George Brown, the Knights of Columbus’ immediate past grand knight, recently walked into the school office and asked to speak to someone about donating coats.

The Knights of Columbus of has been doing this program for more than 6 years, according to Brown.
