Concord District 2 residents organize City Council candidate debate for Aug. 31
Concord switched to District elections for City Council in the 2018 election. Because the elections are staggered, only District 2 and 4 have elections in 2020. Councilmember Edi Birsan is running for re-election unopposed in District 4.

CONCORD, CA—Four of the five District 2 Concord City Council candidates will face off virtually in a debate organized by a group of District 2 residents.  Hope Johnson, incumbent Carlyn Obringer, Harmesh Kumar and Paul Wood will answer questions posed by the organizers in a Facebook live event, Mon., Aug. 31, 6;30-8:30 p.m.

Tristan Piper has opted out.

Candidates will each answer the same questions Round Robin style.

Major issues on the table include the city budget, Measure V sales tax increase, CNWS, North Concord BART development.  The Concord police budget allocation will also get attention.

And the event is open to the public. A Facebook account is not required. To view, go to https://www.facebook.com/events/302169724213839/
