Concord to open cooling center over Labor Day weekend

Concord cooling center extends operation through Tuesday

CONCORD, CA—The City of Concord opened the Concord Senior Center (2727 Parkside Circle) as a cooling center during the Labor Day weekend heatwave. The cooling center has extended its operation through Tuesday, Sept. 8. It will be open during the hottest portion of the day, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., to provide a cool place for individuals and families to escape the heat.

All visitors will be required to check-in and complete a brief health screening prior to entry. Social distancing protocols will be in place, and masks/face coverings are required for entry. A mask will be provided, if needed.

Entrance to the cooling center will be at the west end of the building, closest to the baseball field at Baldwin Park.

Visitors should also bring water and a snack.
