CLAYTON, CA (June 1, 2021) — The City of Clayton voted to raise the rainbow-colored Pride Flag for the second year.

This year the flag will fly at several locations around town. At a June 1 ceremony, members of the community gathered in The Grove.

Owen Quady-Lee, age 8, read the proclamation from the city. In part the proclamation reads:

“Whereas, the City of Clayton is a welcoming community and an exceptional place to live, work and visit; and … strengthened by diversity of ethnic, cultural, racial, gender and sexual identities of its residents, all of whom contribute to the vibrant character of our city…the entire Clayton City Council, hereby proclaim the month of June as ‘LGBTQI+ Pride Month’ in Clayton.”

The statement also invites everyone to “reflect on ways in which we all can live and work together with a commitment of mutual respect and understanding.”
