CLAYTON, CA (Oct. 29, 2023) — Clayton’s Woof-O-Ween dog costume contest brought together pet lovers and their furry companions for an afternoon of whimsical fun on Saturday.

The delightful pre-Halloween event took place during Clayton’s Trunk or Treat celebration in historic downtown Clayton. Trunk or Treat is hosted by Clayton Community Church and the Clayton Business & Community Association.

The costume judges, Deb DeMello, of Who’s Training Who, along with Pet Food Express managers, Gina Gaglioti and Brandt Arbuckle, had their work cut out for them. The top 3 winners received a 1-hour coaching session with DeMello.

First place went to tiny little Ellie as an adorable unicorn. Twiggy, the Pampered Poodle, took second place. And looking like a delicious doggy taco, Pua the bulldog took third. The winners also took home treats and toys from Pet Food Express.

Runners up included Bussy as Gizmo, Oreo as a pirate, Sadie as a strawberry, Princess Bella as a lovely cowgirl and Lady Lulu representing the Adams Family.

Big thanks to Shawn Robinson, Clayton Community Church and the CBCA for letting The Pioneer be a part of Trunk or Treat festivities. And to the judges, Deb DeMello, Gina Gaglioti and Brandt Arbuckle. And to Patti Pratt, my partner in crime, not to mention her hubby Steve, our photographer.
