Bay Area Crisis Nursery and student a cappella singers team up for fundraiser

Bay Area Crisis Nursery and student a cappella singers team up for fundraiserMusic is in the air at Bay Area Crisis Nursery (BACN) as volunteers plan the organization’s first choral-inspired fundraising event “Notes of Love: An Evening of Giving and Music” on May 11, 2019, from 5 to 10 pm, at Carondelet High School’s Garaventa Center in Concord.

Event highlights include Italian fare catered by 1515 Restaurant & Lounge, raffle drawings, live and cause auctions, and performances by talented a cappella ensembles from three East Bay high schools: Athenian in Danville, Campolindo in Moraga, and Miramonte in Orinda.

Anonymous donor will match donations

“We are thrilled and honored to be joined by these amazing high school singers,” says BACN Board and Event Committee Member, Danielle John. Joining the springtime singing celebration is an anonymous donor who will match donations to BACN up to $25,000 through May 11. The May Matching Campaign gives supporters an opportunity double the impact of their gifts to BACN. “Amazing things happen when we work together,” says John.

The mission of BACN is to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing support to families that are in crisis or under extreme stress. BACN operates two 24-hour residential care facilities for children age birth to 11, where children receive unconditional love and attention from BACN’s trained staff members and volunteers. BACN opened its doors in 1981 and is the only crisis nursery in the Bay Area that offers free, voluntary, and confidential services.

“BACN’s crisis and respite programs allow grateful families the time they need to heal, make plans, and move forward,” says Executive Director, Tara Bartholomew. “BACN is 100% funded by private donations,” says Bartholomew. “We work hard to carry out the mission of BACN, and we couldn’t do it without the incredible support and generosity of community members, volunteers, and donors.”
