Concord City Council candidates weigh in on social, budget issues as early voting begins
Candidates for Concord City Council’s District 2 participated in an online forum last week. The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce hosted the discussion live online Sept.30. Election Information for Concord Voters
The 2020 General Election is just one month away. Vote-by-mail ballots have been sent out, and the County Elections office has installed 37 secure ballot drop boxes throughout the County, including three in Concord. One is located at the City’s Civic Center: 1950 Parkside Drive, between Salvio Street and Willow Pass Road. Read more.
Concord Chamber of Commerce to host City Council candidates forum Sept. 30
On Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce will host a Concord City Council Candidates’ Forum featuring representatives running for District 2. The forum will take place via zoom starting at 5 pm. District 2 covers North Concord, including downtown, the North Concord BART station, Holbrook and Sun Terrace. Read more.
Contra Costa County secure ballot boxes installed
Ahead of vote-by-mail ballots arriving to voters in early October, Contra Costa County Public Works crew installed the last of the county Elections Division’s new secure ballot drop boxes.
All total there are 37 outdoor receptacles, located from one end of the county to the other, that are available 24/7 to receive ballots in their sealed and signed envelopes. Read more.
Safety, security top pre-Election Day checklist
For all the dire predictions being voiced ahead of the November general election, it appears it’s all systems go for Contra Costa County election officials as they work to cover all their bases for the big day.
Since March, the county has purchased 25 additional secure drop boxes for vote-by-mail ballots, bringing the total to 37. Ten of the county’s 17 designated Regional Early Voting sites will serve voters in outdoor event tents. Read the full story.
Four seek to unseat incumbent in Concord race
This November, Concord City Council District 2 incumbent Carlyn Obringer will face four challengers hoping to unseat the two-term council member and former mayor.

Four of the five District 2 Concord City Council candidates will face off virtually in a debate organized by a group of District 2 residents.
