CLAYTON, CA (August 7, 2024) — Despite temperature still hovering around the century mark, the Clayton community came together for the annual National Night Out event tonight at Clayton Community Park. While the heat led to a lower than expected turnout, those who braved the weather enjoyed an evening of community bonding and fun activities.

Most of the Clayton Police Department was present, engaging with residents and fostering positive relationships. Officers mingled with attendees, providing a friendly and approachable presence that underscored the event’s purpose of building trust between the police and the community.

The kids attending worked at art projects where tables were set up with supplies. Young artists enthusiastically painted, colored, and crafted under the watchful eyes of their parents and local police officers.

The event served as a reminder of the importance of community engagement and the role of law enforcement in fostering safe, connected neighborhoods. Despite the smaller crowd, the evening was marked by positive interactions and a shared commitment to community unity.
