Clayton Valley Woman’s Club marks 50 years of service -

CLAYTON, CA (July 5, 2023) — The Clayton Valley Woman’s Club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a luncheon on June 13.

Lynn Confetti-Ledbetter, the Mt. Diablo District president, presented the club with a special certificate during the event at Priscilla Manlove’s home.

In 1973, Eldora Hoyer and Emmy Joakimson invited local women to join them at Endeavor Hall to form a woman’s club. The Clayton Woman’s Club was organized and federated later that year. Joakimson became the charter president, and the club held its first meetings at Endeavor Hall.

The club’s purpose was – and is – service. Since the beginning, CVWC has given both hours and goods to many community organizations. Throughout the years, they have collected items and donated to Friendly Manor, Blue Star Moms, the Lion’s Club, STAND and Share. Coins they bring to meetings go to Heifer International and Penny Pines.

The group offers a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating female Diablo Valley College student transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a degree. Meanwhile, their Adopt-A-School program provides school supplies to Silverwood Elementary School in Concord.
